To learn about how to create a news story we have been studying the "Hey! You.. see.. so" story set up for journalism. In class we watched lots of videos that represent this form. I watched a video called the animal odd couple and it was great! My job was to analyze it for the HYSS form. I also watched one of Steve Hartman's "Everybody has a story"!
The Animal Odd Couple : https://youtu.be/cBtFTF2ii7U The "Hey": The loud elephant sounds and beautiful sanctuary. The you: The comparison of the friendships the elephants had to the ones us humans have. The See: The odd paring of the dog and elephant! The so: Animals get along with different people, why cant humans? Everybody Has a Story: Soul Food : https://youtu.be/Er4QmKxRYoU HEY: The bells and the small town scene and the personality of the character You: The values of her household that many families have See: The talk of her cooking and serving for other people in the community So: The need to give back that everyone should have

Our assignment was to find a person we could get a story out of and to compose a proper interview. This by far was the most challenging project because in your head you think "Camera, Person, QUESTIONS!!!" but really you have to think of lighting, sound, location, what type of questions, are they comfortable, are you doing every thing right, OH GOLLY WHERE AM I!!!??? Overall though its great, i loved watching my interview back and just listening to the story that Claire told me and it was amazing to see how far my interview came from the first one I conducted.
